Wireless Troubleshooting - Sharing Copyright Material

  • Are you sharing illegally obtained data with other users online?
    - If you have software installed on any of your computers such as Shareaza, Limewire, BitTorrent etc. there is an excellent chance you are sharing a movie, mp3, games, software with other people on the Internet.
    - These programs have a centralized 'shared' folder setup so that everything you download is placed in this folder then shared with other people on the Internet. These programs also setup to 'share' while you download so essentially you are sharing copyright material as you are downloading it for your own use.
    - Companies will hire out individuals that can monitor illegal activity online by tracking the IP the movie/mp3/software is coming from. If this is your IP you could receive a copyright infringement notice and get a possible fine. There have been some incidents where  an individual has been taken to court. CSInet has the right to terminate your service for this type of activity. See our Memembership Agreement for details on this matter.
    - If you are using a wireless router you will need to 'encrypt' (password protect) your router so your neighbors can't 'borrow' your connection.
    - You are liable for your Internet connection so if your neighbors are downloading/sharing copyright material using your connection you will be held accountable if we receive a copyright infringement notice.
