CSInet Internet Access provides the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department with Enterprise-class high-speed wireless Internet at no cost to the department. High-speed access allows officers to more quickly retrieve needed information than with dial-up access. Members of the department perform many tasks throughout their day requiring Internet access, such as “record checks, FBI inquiries, and Indiana Data And Communications System (IDACS) information in a matter of seconds,” says Todd McCoy, network administrator and forensic computer examiner with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s office.

CSInet also designed, developed, and hosts the department’s website (www.LaPorteCountySheriff.com) which to date has received 31,000 hits. Sheriff James Arnold and his staff use the website to give a visual picture to the county residents of the officers protecting their lives and property. Plans are being developed to expand the services offered to citizens via the website.

CSInet provides high-speed wireless service to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s department “out of the high regard and respect it has for our local law enforcement,” stated Doug Konieczny, President/CEO of CSInet Internet Access Corp.

The department and CSInet will soon test mobile wireless services which will allow officers to work more effectively and efficiently from their vehicles. Running license plate checks won’t need to be done by the dispatcher but directly by the officer in his car. This will save radio traffic and more quickly get the information where it’s needed. Officers will know almost immediately whether or not someone poses a threat to their safety. LaPorte County is believed to be one of the first county law enforcement agencies in Indiana to have laptops assigned to field officers. Wireless connectivity will take them one step further enabling them to file reports from their vehicles thus keeping deputies in their districts instead of in the office.

Some Sheriff’s department employees have taken advantage of CSInet’s offer of personal high-speed wireless access at half price. What a bargain! McCoy stated, “CSInet has tried very hard to work with the Sheriff’s office in every way possible. We all commend them for the effort they give to us and the community.” Sheriff James Arnold is very appreciative of the working relationship between his office and CSInet Internet Access.
